Newport native, Tim Smith knows the area like the back of his hand. In addition to residing in Dover Shores—with his wife, Amber, and their two kids—he spends his time all over town as the leader of Coldwell Banker’s team in Orange County and the desert, which has been named the group’s No. 1 real estate team for six years in a row. When he’s not helping his clients find their next home, he’s spending time with his family, and he’s also actively involved with local charities Miracles for Kids and The Wooden Floor. Here, he shares his favorite spots to visit throughout many Newport neighborhoods.
First to Rise
“[I start my day] early, before the birds. I hit my morning routine, exercise, have a cup of coffee, and wake my son Brixton. It’s our time together before the world starts knocking. If we’re lucky, we make it to the ocean or wetlands to watch the sun rise.”
Breakfast Bites
“The avocado toast at Haute Cakes [Caffe] is my go-to for sure.”
Break a Sweat
“I regularly work out at The 12 in Costa Mesa. I appreciate the customized workouts and the sense of community there.”
Sense of Style
“I don’t really like to shop, but when I do, I go to David August in Costa Mesa. I just tell him that I need some new stuff, and he figures it out for me. He’s the best clothier around; he knows my style, he’s always challenging me, but every time I try something new with him, it always works. He’s the best.”
Date Night
“The piano bar at The Ritz Prime Seafood is amazing, but A Restaurant seems to be our staple. The dark and cozy vibe with plush leather booths give us a sense of privacy, and the food, cocktails and service is always on point.”
Family Time
“Marina Park on the peninsula (Brixton loves the nautical theme), Crystal Cove State Beach or the Monarch Bay Club—you will likely find us at one of those three spots every weekend.”
Hidden Gems
“Gary’s Deli—[the] pastrami New York style is the best sandwich in Newport Beach.”
Dining Scene
“Pirozzi’s is amazing Italian food in Corona Del Mar. We also love Andrea Ristorante at Pelican Hill, and A’s is great. For family style, I’ve gotta give props to Pitfire [Artisan Pizza]—it’s the best place to take your kids and have a drink.”
