CHOC Glass Slipper Guild Gala

More than 425 guests gathered at Big Canyon Country Club May 18 for the CHOC Glass Slipper Guild Gala, where they raised their auction paddles—and $300,000—for the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). Upon arrival, guests made their way down a green carpet to an elegant reception room, which was transformed into a setting reminiscent of the Kentucky Derby. At the reception, guests sipped on cocktails and participated in a silent auction with exciting offerings that ranged from Obagi skin care products to an overnight stay with tigers. Before dinner, guests were able to partake in a game of croquet and sample flights of Scotch whisky at a Glenfiddich tasting table. Once seated for dinner, which was beautifully set under a draped white tent on the golf range, heartfelt presentations took place by special guest speakers, including guild member Karlee Leyva, who explained how CHOC saved her daughter Everlee when she was diagnosed with a spinal disorder. During the dinner, the live auction featured generous packages such as an eight-day Danube Waltz holiday cruise and a ladies’ day out donated by Bloomingdale’s South Coast Plaza. At the end of the evening, guests danced inside the ballroom and munched on late-night snacks provided by Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee. Donations garnered from the evening will help fund the 6,400-square-foot post-anesthesia care unit in the new Bill Holmes Tower. —A.T.
