Friends of James Beard Benefit
On May 1, 170 guests attended a sold-out Friends of James Beard fundraising dinner at AnQi by Crustacean at South Coast Plaza. Inside a decked out restaurant adorned with flowers and glowing with candlelight and Parisian-style street lamps, attendees enjoyed a six-course menu from guest chef Daniel Rose of Spring restaurant in Paris teamed with host chefs Helene An and Ron Lee. In addition to enjoying music from a deejay, guests watched professional dancers Natalie and David Schulz from Century Dancesport in Tustin perform, and guests later joined in the dancing. AnQi CEO Elizabeth An doubled the funds raised from the evening, which will go to support the James Beard Foundation’s educational outreach, along with funding a local AnQi scholarship at the Art Institute of California – Orange County Culinary School. —M.M.
