The great outdoors are calling, and South Coast Plaza’s annual spring garden show,  At Home in the Garden, is helping Newport Beach residents embrace spending time alfresco. From Thursday, April 23 through Sunday, April 26, the Macy’s Home Store wing will become a forum for seminars, displays and guest vendors, all to help attendees take advantage of their outdoor spaces.

More than 30 informative seminars will take place in individual stores, and the schedule includes cooking demonstrations with fresh ingredients at Sur La Table, tips for outdoor entertaining at Crate and Barrel Home Store, and expert advice for gardening topics such as mounting orchids (Z Gallerie) and caring for bonsai trees (West Elm).

Guests also shouldn’t miss the chance to hear from three interior designers—Trip Haenisch, Jeffrey Alan Marks and Windsor Smith—in a discussion held at Williams-Sonoma about outdoor living spaces in modern homes. Meanwhile, children are also encouraged to learn and engage with nature through arts and crafts, interactive storytelling and live animal encounters on Saturday and Sunday.

During the event, select locations on the first floor of the mall will be transformed into themed display gardens where guests can draw inspiration from the creations of landscape designers; the second and third floors will host vendors with resources to maintain already-curated gardens or help a fallow green space turn over a new leaf altogether.
