Fashion Island’s True Food Kitchen rolled out a new menu in September, introducing fresh takes on autumn’s seasonal produce. A few fall classics are returning—the harvest chopped salad and squash pie, for example—but this year also introduces apple and cauliflower as restaurant staples.

To start, the restaurant swaps out the traditional chef’s charcuterie sampling with a board featuring roasted seasonal vegetables paired with avocado “goddess” dip and pimento cashew cheese spread. Meat-eaters can enjoy the new braised bison short rib entree with cauliflower mash, a lighter spin on mashed potatoes.

Apples, however, shine in the dessert and drinks categories. The spiced apple and goji berry crisp with vanilla ice cream offers a sweet finish to any meal, and you can wash it down with a sparkling apple soda with lemon, cinnamon, vanilla and cane sugar. True Food Kitchen is also bringing a seasonal spin to its alcoholic libations list, introducing sips like the fig and pomegranate mule, vegan pina colada and spiced cranberry sidecar.

Say goodbye to the tomatoes and watermelons of summer—the flavors of fall are here through mid-December. (949-644-2400; truefoodkitchen.com)
